Description:
Chrysophyllum oliviforme, satinleaf, is a handsome tree native to hammocks of South Florida and the West Indies. It can reach a height of 40 feet or more. The unique leaves are green on top and a shimmery, velvety brown underneath; satinleafs look especially beautiful when sunlight shines down through the canopy. Flowers are tiny and inconspicuous, but juicy purple berries are prized by migratory birds. The state of Florida lists satinleaf as a threatened species. Plant in shade or sun.
