Description:
This very rare shrub, called 'maron bacoba', is endemic to the island of St. John in the US Virgin Islands. There are only about 200 plants found in the wild. This plant has very attractive purple flowers and leaves with an ornage central vein. It grows into a dense shrub about 8-9 ft tall in South Florida and is tolerant of most soils. It does best in full sun with good drainage and is drought tolerant.
